Bump watch
Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller expecting a baby
Divorce & custody, Bump watch, Celeb parenting, Behaving badly
He may be embroiled in one of Hollywood's dirtiest custody battles (with ex-wife Denise Richards), but Charlie Sheen isn't going to let that stop him from moving on with his life. The actor announced today that his wife, Brooke Mueller, is pregnant with their first child."Brooke and I are thrilled," he said in a released statement. "She's the best step mom Sam, Lola, and Cassandra could every hope for. Seeing her love and affection for those three, I'll know she'll be an amazing mom." (Awwww. It's almost enough to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, but yet....) Sheen is referring to his three daughters: He had Cassandra with ex-girlfriend Paula Profit in 1985, and daughters Sam, 3, and Lola, 4, with Richards.
Maybe this is a sign that Sheen really is moving forward with his life and is ready to let the healing begin between him and Richards. No word on what she thinks of the couple's exciting news, but if she's not happy about it, there's no doubt we'll be hearing about it before too long.
Jason Lee is a dad again
Newborns, Pregnancy & birth, Bump watch, Life & style, Celeb parenting, That's entertainment

Jason Lee, star of such films as Mall Rats and lead in the wildly popular My Name Is Earl series, is a daddy again. Apparently the birth was kept under wraps as sources say the child made her debut August 10th. What's more exciting about this birth is really what Mr. Lee plans on naming this kid.
Lee's first child, a four-year-old son with ex Beth Riesgraf, has the infamous distinction of being named Pilot Inspektor. No, not a typo, that is indeed the child's name. (She must have been on some serious medication to have agreed to that.) Ever since then we've been waiting for the other shoe to drop. And now it has.
The name of the tot, a girl, was not available as of this writing. Let's hope Lee's new partner Ceren Alkac is able to convince him toward something a little less...well, you know...unusual. Not that unusual is bad. And let's just say Lee has some big shoes to follow--not only from his own son, but now too with the birth of Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. That's going to be a hard one to follow up. Let the naming games begin!
Mel C expecting a baby
Posh has her three boys, Geri has Bluebell Madonna. Scary and Baby Spice are both moms as well, which left Mel C, aka Sporty Spice, the only ex-Spice Girl left who had yet to enter motherhood. Just two weeks ago, Mel told the media that she had no intentions of changing that either. "Everybody asks whether I'm going to be next or whether I'm trying. I hate to disappoint people, but the answer is 'no'."But today, the pop artist is singing a different tune. Mel C announced last night that she's expecting a baby with long time partner Thomas Starr, a property developer. A friend says, "Mel's absolutely delighted with the news."
MTV is reporting that the rumors that Mel was pregnant have been circulating for a while, once she started showing up to events in loose clothing and with a suspicious looking "bump." Mel C acknowledged that speculation in a recent message on her website: "As I'm sure you'll understand we needed time to wait for results and tell our families."
Gwen Stefani has her baby!
Newborns, Just for moms, Pregnancy & birth, Bump watch, Celeb parenting, Rumors, That's entertainment

If reports are to be believed, Gwen Stefani has had her baby. The tot, sex and name unknown at press time (and if Perez Hilton don't know then nobody knows!), was born to the singer this Thursday in California. Not sure if anyone actually cares that Stefani is a mom again, what with all the media frenzy surrounding the Jolie-Pitt twins, but I for one am excited to see Gwen take on motherhood X 2.
Stefani checked into the hospital and delivered the new arrival via C-section. Gwen's other child, Kingston, who she had with husband Gavin Rossdale, was born at the same hospital two years ago via the same procedure. You know what they say--it ain't Hollywood if it ain't a C-section. And they won't seem to let you have a VBAC even if you are interested in a natural birth after you've already had a C.
According to sources, the name of the baby is Zuma. You know, like Zima only with a "U." I seriously doubt that's the kid's name, but given the climate in la-la land these days anything for a name goes. Maybe she'll go hog wild and name the kid Jane or something.
Updated to add: The wee one's name is indeed Zuma -- in fact, it's Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. That's a mouthful, but it's a mouthful with meaning; according to The Baby Name Wizzard, this is a nod to a new trend in naming. And People has the full dish on where the name comes from. Just in case you're really curious.
Jennifer Garner finally admits she's pregnant
Toddlers, Pregnancy & birth, Money & work, Siblings, Bump watch, Life & style, Celeb parenting, Rumors, That's entertainment

It may seem like something of a bore by now, but actress Jennifer Garner has finally come clean about her pregnancy. the Alias star, married to fellow actor Ben Affleck, has caused much speculation over recent months after being photographed wearing comfortable clothing and posing her daughter, Violet, and some pretty expensive handbags in front of her swelling belly.
Not too long ago, former Alias co-star Victor Garber seemingly confirmed the news that Garner was pregnant again. He later recanted, saying his comments were taken out of context. Then her mother-in-law had a similar slip of the lip. Both Jenn and Ben refused to comment on her state of impending mommyhood until just recently, when she confirmed the news.
Now the watch is on to see how big she'll get, whether the baby will be a girl or boy, and what the name will be. These are the things the media is sure we care about and will take every opportunity to tell us. As or the Garner-Afflecks, I can appreciate wanting to keep some of the joy to yourself--they told when they were good and ready, and not a moment before that.
Congrats to Violet's mom and dad! She'll be a big sister soon!
Jenna Jameson - pregnant porn star
Just for moms, Bump watch, Celeb kids, Celeb parenting, Rumors, In the news
Even if you have never watched an X-rated movie, chances are you have heard of Jenna Jameson. Considered to be the world's most famous porn star, Jameson began her exotic film career in 1993 to get back at a cheating boyfriend. Since then, she's become famous not only for having sex on camera, but for ClubJenna, the porn film company she founded in 2000.Earlier this year, Jameson officially retired from 'acting' and is now moving in an entirely different direction with her life. A source says that Jameson and her boyfriend, Ultimate Fighting Champion Tito Ortiz, are expecting their first child. She and Ortiz have been dating since 2006 after meeting on MySpace.
Jameson hasn't confirmed the pregnancy yet, but has made no secret of her desire to be a mother. She suffered a miscarriage when married to Jay Grdina and later failed to get pregnant via in vitro fertilization.
Becoming a mother is a wonderful and life-changing event and I am happy for Jameson in that regard. But I have to say that I feel sorry for the child. At some point, that kid will have to be told about mommy's past. And then what? Does the child follow in the family business? Or does the kid rebel and run off to college to study accounting?
Katie Holmes - Time for a bump watch?
Now the the Jolie-Pitts have delivered their much-anticipated twins, the world needs a new belly to watch. Katie Holmes is a likely target, and The Daily Mail is reporting that Tom Cruise's wife is sporting a mysterious belly bump. Looking over the pictures, all I have to say is that if that's a baby bump, then I've been pregnant for, oh, about 16 years. (Note to The Daily Mail: That's not a bump... that's a big lunch.) While we're on the subject of Suri's mom, can we talk about something? Not the mom hair, which Katie recently and wisely cut into a much cuter pageboy. I'm talking about those jeans, those pegged jeans. I'm having 8th grade flashbacks, and believe me, that's not a good thing. But she's been in those baggy, pegged jeans pretty frequently lately, which, stylish woman that she is does make a person wonder....
Is Katie just trying to fit in with the other moms on the playground, or do you think she's making room for baby number two?
Carla Bruni wants kids
Just for moms, Love & sex, Pregnancy & birth, Bump watch, Life & style, That's entertainment

Former model Carla Bruni has announced she wants kids. The new wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy is keen to begin a family soon. Bruni, who is 40, has a seven year old son from another relationship and wants to provide Aurelian with a sibling if she's "young enough." Bruni and Sarkozy have been married less than a year.
Bruni also has a burgeoning career as a pop star to consider in addition to her duties as the President's wife. How will the beauty ever find time to be a mommy (again)? She has sworn off using fertility treatments to find herself in the family way, referring the matter over to a nature. AS we've all had rammed down our throats for ages, a woman's fertility begins a downhill course at twenty-seven (or so current wisdom holds).
Many women are having children later and later in life, and are therefore turning to the very thing Bruni is eschewing (at least in print) to become mothers. Being a model, pop star, or politician's wife--or all three--doesn't seem to be interfering with Carla's desire to add to her family. Will she become pregnant? Will she turn to fertility treatments? Only Carla (and mother nature) knows. Good luck to Carla and Nicolas!
Angie Harmon expecting third child
Bump watch, Celeb parenting, Rumors
Brad Pitt's girlfriend isn't the only gorgeous Angie making babies these days. 36-year-old actress Angie Harmon and her equally gorgeous husband, former New York Giant Jason Sehorn, are reportedly expecting their third child. Life and Style Weekly has the scoop, with an insider proclaiming Angie "thrilled" with her growing family. "They're about four months into the pregnancy," the insider says.Until we hear it from Angie's own lips, it's all just speculation of course. But Angie has made no secret of the fact that she wants a large family, even if she has to get take advantage of her husband in order to accomplish that. "Jason wants one more, and I want two or three more, so I may have to get him drunk on date night," she told Cookie magazine last year.
Angie and Jason are already parents to two girls, 4-year-old Finley Faith and 3-year-old Avery Grace. Congratulations!
Katherine Heigl is too busy for children
Pregnancy & birth, Money & work, Bump watch, Life & style, Mommy wars, That's entertainment

Actress and break-out movie sensation Katherine Heigl is too busy for children. The Grey's Anatomy star, whose recent silver screen hits include 27 Dresses and Knocked Up, says she is far too busy to consider having kids.
The newlywed's husband, musician Josh Kelley, basically couldn't agree more. According to him he's even taken some time off touring to focus more on music. Once you're married, though, inevitably comes all the questions about when you'll be starting a family.
Like many, many women before her, famous and not, Heigl is spurring on the trend of having a baby later in life (if indeed she wants kids at all). With a career as full and successful as Katherine's, I can certainly understand putting off motherhood for a while. Or, maybe the experiences she had while playing a pregnant woman in Knocked Up scared her!!!
Women fight to take back natural childbirth
Just for moms, Pregnancy & birth, Health & safety, Bump watch, Life & style, Celeb parenting, In the news, Playground bureau, Mommy wars

Is natural childbirth going the way of the dinosaur? Ask many new moms and a lot of doctors and midwives, and you may be surprised to find the answer is yes. Between increasing costs at hospitals, liability and the demand by insurance companies for medical professionals to take on more and more patients each year, thereby limiting the amount of time one can spend on an individual labor, the option for a natural childbirth seems to lessen by the day.
Instead of having a regular old labor, complete with the uncertainty of when the baby would arrive and lots of pushing and pain, more and more women--and their care providers--are getting C-sections. Celebrities like Posh Beckham have helped speed the plow in the C-section trend by making no bones about scheduling the birth of her three sons. The woman has a career to think of and I simply can't imagine her having ten extra minutes for her water to break, can you? Celebrities opting for this surgery--and, uhm, yeah, it's considered MAJOR SURGERY--have paved the way for making it a norm for regular folks too. Women are also opting to get epidurals to ease the pain of childbirth as their doctors increase the use of pitocin and other drugs to jump start a labor. Pitocin can increase the pain of childbirth, too, so when the doc gives one more often than not a woman gets an epidural too. Many feel this process causes problems which then leads to more C-sections.
Other celebrities, like Ricky Lake, are spearheading the movement of natural childbirth. Lake had her baby at home with the help of a midwife. And there are many women who prefer to go about it the non-medicalized way, without drugs or a scheduled C. Problem is, they're finding it harder and harder to do so. I don't want to get into a discussion of whether or not it's "right" to have a natural birth, a C-section or an epidural any more than I want to discuss whether expectant mothers should be playing Metallica or Brahms during labor. What I do think warrants discussion is how we as women can preserve the right to have our babies the way we want to have them, and not bowing to the demands of the insurance business or doctors who act out of fear of malpractice suits.
Mark Wahlberg won't sell baby pictures
Newborns, Pregnancy & birth, Money & work, Bump watch, Life & style, Celeb parenting, Rumors, Media, That's entertainment
Actor Mark Wahlberg has vowed not to sell the baby pictures of his new child-to-be. Marky Mark is putting a stop to any offers from magazines before they even get started, insisting he will not be selling his baby photos like so many other celebrity parents have of late.
The actor is expecting his third child with girlfriend (and perhaps soon to be wife) Rhea Durham, who is due in September. He is already father to two other children with Durham, Ella, who is four and Michael, who is two. I don't recall Mark pimping out pictures of either of them to the tabloids either!
Wahlberg wants to keep the birth and his family private, which is a welcome refreshment to the baby picture overload we've been experiencing lately, our fascination with which is borderline disgusting! Rumor also had it that new mom Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban would not be selling pictures of their new daughter, Sunday Rose. Perhaps there is a new celebrity parenting trend afoot?
Rebecca Romijn & Jerry O'Connell expecting twins!
In an almost cyclical pattern, just as the furor of one celebrity couple having twin babies, another announces they are expecting a double dose of joy.
This time the superstar parents are Rebecca Romijn of Victoria Secret and Sports Illustrated modeling fame and current regular on Ugly Betty, and Jerry O'Connell, swooned over by many since his Stand By Me days and more recently, his parody of Tom Cruise.
The expectant parents were married a year ago in a quiet ceremony in Los Angeles. This will be the first children for either of them, but if they have any questions about the care and raising of twins, they could ask :
- Geena Davis
- Marcia Gay Harden
- Julia Roberts
- Patrick Dempsey
- Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony
- Nancy Grace
- Marcia Cross
- Dennis Quaid
- Al Pacino
- Cheryl Tiegs
- Denzel Washington
- Patricia Richardson
- Chuck Norris
- Cybil Shepherd
- Donald Sutherland
- Jane Seymour
- Ray Romano
- Mel Gibson
- Corbin Bernsen
- Michael J. Fox
- Ron Howard
- Ingrid Bergman
- Lance Armstrong
- Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie
Apparently there is something going on with that Hollywood water!
Mark Wahlberg ready to tie the knot, right after baby #3
Just for moms, Just for dads, Love & sex, Pregnancy & birth, Money & work, Bump watch, Life & style, Celeb parenting, Rumors, That's entertainment
Marky Mark is finally ready to settle down. The former pop star and current mega-hottie actor, fresh off the lukewarm if challenging film The Happening, is preparing to marry his girlfriend after all these years. According to People, Wahlberg and Rhea Durham are ready to make it official and have baby number three on the way! Why? Well, the former head of the Funky Bunch wants his family to be as successful as his movie career. With hits like Oscar-winning The Departed to his credit, Wahlberg may have to put in some daddy overtime!
Wahlberg, 37, says he is finally ready to give up life in the fast lane and work on the things that matter in life, like getting eight hours of sleep at night. Good, luck, Mark! Clearly this man has no idea that parenting entails giving up your sleep preferences until your kid goes to college.
My question is this: Does it take a marriage to make a family? The Jolie-Pitts would say no way, no day (although who knows, they may already secretly be married if rumors are true). Many other celebrity parents have admitted they have no plans or need to marry. What do you think? Is there ever a right time to "settle down" and marry whether or not you already have a family?
Ethan Hawke is a daddy--again!
Newborns, Pregnancy & birth, Divorce & custody, Bump watch, Celeb parenting, Rumors, That's entertainment

Actor Ethan Hawke welcomed a baby girl into the world July 18th, according to his representative. Hawke and his wife, former nanny (to his kids with Uma Thurman) Ryan Shawhughes, are proud parents to Clementine Jane Hawke. Clementine is the first child for the newlyweds and joins siblings Maya Rae and Levan Roan, Ethan's kids with Uma Thurman.
Mara Buxbaum confirmed the happy news. Hawke and Shawhughes married a month ago. Hawke split from Thurman in 2004, and it is alleged that she may be pregnant as well.
Congratulations to the couple!
